Navigate to the website OpenClipArt.org in Chrome. Notice there is a search menu near the top. Enter the item you wish to search for.
Scroll through the search results until you find the clip art you wish to use. Select the hyperlink for that clip art.
Many clip art come in different formats. The most commonly used format is a PNG (pronounced "ping") file. Select the resolution of the artwork in the box next to the "PNG" option, such as 100. If the size is too big or small, you can always hit the back arrow and adjust the size.
Right click on the image you wish to downlaod, and select Save image as...
When you save anything off the Internet, make sure you understand where you are saving on your computer, otherwise it will be difficult to find it later. In class, we save images off the Internet in our Pictures folder. Also, give the image a meaningful name so that it will be easy to find later on.
Now you are ready to insert the image into your Google Doc. In your Google Doc, select the drop down menu Insert and select Image...
A dialog box will now open up asking you to pick the image you wish to insert into the document. Since you saved it in Pictures and gave it a meaningful name it will be easy to find.
The picture will now show up in your document. Be sure to select Wrap Text so that you can move the image anywhere in your document. Also, you can grab an anchor to adjust the size of the image.
